It was great to meet with families for parent conferences and to see so many families attend our first Trunk or Treat night! Every time our families participate in school events our students and your kids benefit so much!
During the next few weeks, take the time to learn or build on a new language concept. Something that will be taught and utilized in kindergarten is the ability to group items into categories and then tell why the objects go together. This is a skill used in math, reading, science and social studies activities. Have your child try and organize (sort/group) items at home. This could include sorting groceries (canned items, fruits, vegetables, frozen items, meat, etc), laundry (shirts, socks, pants, etc), toys (legos, dolls, etc), items they find outside (pine cones, red leaves, yellow leaves, etc), or anything else you can find to group together. If your child is not yet ready for this skill, work on building his/her vocabulary related to these items.
