For the next couple of weeks, have your child work on identifying objects by function (point to the one that we eat) or attribute (Which one is red? Which one has stripes? Which one is fast?). Once your child can point to the correct object, then is it time to begin to ask, (What do you do with a key? What do you do with a car?). Also, see if they can start describing objects by naming attributes, (Tell me something about that bug? Tell me something about that dog?). Your child's language skills will mature and be more descriptive and full when your child can truly understand and state functions and attributes.
